Wimbledon

I was at Wimbledon yesterday for work, demoing Ian’s Second Life project to people in corporate hospitality. It’s the first time I’ve ever been to Wimbledon so I did have a quick look around while I was there. It was different to what I had expected. It didn’t really feel like a sports event, more like a small version of a Disney park. I hadn’t realised that a lot of people go with a picnic for a day out, much like they would to a park. It doesn’t seem to matter which (if any) tennis games they get to see.

I did like how you can see some of the practice courts where the players are warming up. If football had something like that, I don’t think they’d be so public. I don’t know who it is, but I watched this women on the practice courts. This shot landed about an inch above my head (I was pressed up against the metal fence). I’m sure it was deliberate, she’s looking right at me. Would have made for an interesting IBM accident report anyway.
