Electric Proms

I really liked Kanye West’s Late Orchestration album from earlier this year, where he did some of his best songs with a live string orchestra, so I was pretty interested in the BBC’s Electric Proms this week. They’ve got an impressive lineup of groups to play with a full orchestra. Some of the stuff sounded unusual, but didn’t really work, but a few performances were awesome.

Kasabian singing Club Foot with strings in the background and the loudest drums I think I’ve ever heard, may be the best thing I’ve listened to all year.

In honour of the recent conversation I had with my linux geek office mate, over who was most recognisable to the UK public, Cheryl Tweedy or a Buzzard, we’ve renamed our office plants.

Travel Directions By Beyonce

Do you think Beyonce took inspiration for Irreplaceable from her satellite navigation system? “To the left, to the left” indeed.

Going To Number One

Girls Aloud. “Something Kinda Oooh”. Best named song for a long time and most likely to (annoyingly) get stuck in your head this Autumn. Going striaght to number one.

As Heard During Dinner

One of the best things about work is our dinner and tea time conversations. We talk about all kinds of rubbish, but sometimes, someone (usually Dave) comes up with a great statement. Two from this week include:

“I’m going to set up a Second Life tea shop and it shall be called, RealiTea.”

and…

“Who is more famous, Cheryl Tweedy or a Buzzard?”

moopic I decided to do something with my Moo cards. A couple of pieces of card and a cheap (1.50) clip frame later and here they are.

I had to go to Hobby Craft to get some sticky letters for another project, so I picked up the frame while I was there. If I was really brave and arty I would have got a really big frame and just put the pictures in the middle. If that had been done by Ikea it would cool, but I think it may look a little silly if I’d done it.

Maybe I should have gone for a slightly bigger frame and mount, but it’s not too bad for less than 2. I’m thinking about ordering a box of Moo mini cards and trying to think of some more original things to do with them. I think you could make a pretty neat mobile with them, or maybe cut them up in to alphabet letters to spell out words with.

I also need to start thinking of what to do for Christmas cards this year. Yes it is ages off, I’m not going to do them yet, just need to think of some ideas.
