This is my favourite news piece on Katie Holmes’ wedding preparations.
Having worked on a few data mining projects over the last few years, I’ve a reasonable understanding of how some of the product suggestion algorithms work. I was still a little surprised to see the list of things Amazon are suggesting for me. Along with some predicatable stuff, MySQL Cookbook and Wisdom of Crowds are Keeley Hazell’s 2007 Calendar and a Breaking Free From OCD Workbook. Clearly some people with my buying patterns are obsessing over page 3 models.
I can’t remember how this came up, but another lunchtime work conversation involved what music I listen to while doing the ironing. My current itunes ironing playlist (you really do need a playlist for every occasion) is heavily featuring Ice-T’s Home Invasion album. Nothing like a small portion of obscene lyrics to help with the chores. For slightly less hard core domestic activities, San Francisco Knights by People Under the Stairs is set on repeat.
