Down The Line

I was driving home tonight and was attempting to change the CD. It was one in those fiddly double CD cases, which managed to explode sending CDs, cover art and plastic casing all over the car. Trying to grab hold of the CDs I hit the radio by mistake (I was honestly in full control of the vehicle at this time) and managed to switch accidentally to Radio 4, which appeared to be having some kind of radio phone in about plastic surgery. It sounded interesting so I started to listen.

I’m ashamed to say it took me a good five minutes till it clicked that it was a spoof phone in. I think it was the guy who phoned in to say that he wanted plastic surgery to make himself look slightly less handsome that did it. He pointed out that he’d deliberately found a relatively ugly wife to ensure his children didn’t look too handsome and have the same problems he’d been inflicted with.

Anyway, probably best if you do think it’s a real phone in, but still funny. You can listen online.

  • “RealPlayer plug-in required.”

What a shame. I will never install the RealPlayer plug-in after all that ad ware they installed previously. I don’t care if they cleaned it up now. They lost me. (Not that I’m bitter… :-)

  • And people say that drivers using mobile phones are the killers of the road. It’s actually drivers trying to change CDs that kill more people! That and drivers who want to spit out their crappy Halloween candy gum because it’s hard as a rock and the only thing available to spit it in is an old paper receipt, and somehow the wad of gum bounced right off of the paper as it left the driver’s mouth and it bounced off somewhere in the car, and of course the car isn’t the driver’s, it’s the driver’s husband’s, so the driver is freaking out and trying to find the wad of gum because if it stuck to the leather seats, the driver would be killed trying to explain to the husband why there is a green rubbery splotch on the seat.

  • Heh, driving a car is littered with all kinds of unexpected hazards. Hope the driver’s husband didn’t find any gum.

  • It’s OK to come out of the closet and admit listening to Radio 4 :-) It doesnt really mean you have joined the ‘over the hill’ club
