I know this is quite geeky, but there are certain web based menu systems that I find very relaxing. Not that they’re especially useful or usable, but I can happily spend time hovering over the items just to watch them change.
With this in mind, I tried to build a completely useless, but relaxing menu system for Flickr. It’s useless in that you can’t use it to do anything, but there is something about the way the pictures pulse and make piano sounds that could send me to sleep. It’s like interactive white noise.
Here it is with my photos. Or with Rob’s photos. Or with Roo’s.

The sound of the keys is lovely … I see what you mean about it making you sleepy, it’s very relaxing

Comment by Darren Shaw — November 7, 2007 @ 4:36 pmI like that. It reminds me a little bit of this. And of the plethora of toys I had intended to build using the Flickr API and never got around to…

Comment by Darren Shaw — November 8, 2007 @ 9:26 amHanan is right. The audio for the keys is splendid. Did you find a charming old upright piano and record it yourself?
