The Arizona Diamondbacks v The Colorado Rockies - my first ever baseball game. Being used to football, we weren’t sure if you could take beer on to the terraces. Andy asked one of the stewards who looked completely puzzled by the question, then said, “Of course you can. You can go and order it there and someone will bring it to your seat.” This really isn’t football.

Snakes In The Road

What should you do if you’re driving through the desert and you come across a snake? If you’re our Hummer driver, you stop the car, jump out, grab hold of it, keep jumping around as it tries to go for you, before bringing it round the car to show everyone.

Tornado!

This was only the second most dangerous thing we encountered this afternoon. It may be the worst picture of a tornado ever, but I was hanging out the side of a Hummer at the time and you can just about make it out. It looked so much more impressive in real life.

I’m In The Desert

I spent the day following the Apache Trail through Arizona’s Superstition Mountains.

The cactus is in The Lost Dutchman State Park. Brilliantly, I learned that the Lost Dutchman was neither Dutch, nor lost.

Walking through the desert park without seeing any other person for three or four hours was a little unsettling. I spent most of the journey thinking about the various mishaps that might occur and what I should do in the event that they did. Also, I didn’t have the best of maps, only one I hand copied from Google this morning, which did cause a nervous few minutes when I initially couldn’t find my hire car. Not that it should be too unexpected given that I momentarily failed to locate my own car in the Sainsbury’s car park last Wednesday.

Help, I’m in 1863! I did a little time travel experiment over the weekend, but now I can’t get back. Things aren’t too bad, we seem to be having a little bother with some chap called Johnny Reb and his confederate friends, but I believe history is on our side. Been nice to know you all.

Rocket Day 2 at the Fower Pots, Cheriton. Helen, Alice, Roo, Gareth, Dave, James and Rob in the pictures. It was great and I didn’t even come home covered in vinegar this year.
